FreeWebCheck is designed with your privacy as a core principle. This policy explains how we handle your data when you use any of our tools and website.

Data Controller

FreeWebCheck operates as a data controller for the minimal analytics data collected via Google Analytics. For inquiries about data handling, contact us at contact.ciphph@gmail.com.

What Data We Collect

We collect minimal, anonymized usage data via Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with the site and improve the experience. Specifically:

We do not store your IP address on our servers
We do not have a database
We do not log requests to our server-side tools
We use Google Analytics, which sets first-party cookies (_ga, _gid, _gat) to collect anonymized traffic data (pages viewed, referral source, browser type, approximate location at city level)
We have disabled Google Signals and ad personalization features
We do not share personal data with third parties beyond what Google Analytics collects

Data Retention

Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months. After this period, individual-level data is automatically deleted and only aggregate reports are retained. Data stored in your browser's localStorage persists until you clear it. We do not maintain any server-side storage of user data.

How Each Tool Handles Your Data

IP Lookup / VPN Check / IP Compare

When you use these tools, your browser makes a direct request to a third-party API (ipinfo.io) from your browser. The API returns information about the IP address you queried, which is displayed on the page. All processing happens in your browser — no data passes through our servers. The third-party API may collect data according to their own privacy policy.

DNS Lookup

When you use the DNS lookup tool, your browser queries Cloudflare's DNS-over-HTTPS API (cloudflare-dns.com) directly. The domain you enter is sent to Cloudflare to resolve DNS records. We do not receive or store these queries.

SEO Analyzer

When you enter a URL into the SEO Analyzer, our server fetches that URL's HTML and returns it to your browser for analysis. The proxy is a stateless pass-through — it does not log, cache, or store the fetched content. All SEO analysis (title tags, meta descriptions, headings, etc.) is performed in your browser using the fetched HTML. No data from the analysis is sent to our servers.

Page Link Analyzer

The Page Link Analyzer works the same way as the SEO Analyzer — your target URL is fetched via our stateless proxy, and all link analysis (internal vs external links, anchor text, link locations) is performed in your browser. The proxy does not log or store any data.

Website Audit

The Website Audit tool crawls up to 25 pages of a website. Each page is fetched through our stateless proxy, and all analysis (SEO checks, image analysis, security scanning, accessibility) is performed in your browser. The proxy does not log, cache, or store any of the crawled pages.

Image Toolkit & Image to PDF

Both image tools are fully client-side. Images you upload are processed entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. No image data is uploaded to any server. We never see, receive, or store your images.

Data Storage (localStorage)

Some features store data locally in your browser using localStorage. This data never leaves your device:

IP Lookup history — Your recent IP lookups are saved so you can reference them later
Dashboard — SEO analyses, link reports, and website audits saved to your dashboard are stored locally in your browser
Page Link Analyzer history — Previous link scan results are stored locally
Dark mode preference — Your theme selection is saved locally
Cookie consent — Your analytics consent choice is stored locally

You can clear all stored data at any time by clearing your browser's site data or using the "Clear Data" option in the Dashboard settings.

SEO Analysis Proxy

The SEO tools use a server-side function to fetch external web pages. This function:

Acts as a simple HTTP pass-through — it fetches the requested URL and returns the HTML response
Does not log, cache, or store any data
Does not process or inspect the content
Does not set any cookies
Is only active when a tool requests a page through it

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

ipinfo.io — For IP geolocation data used by IP Lookup, VPN Check, and IP Compare tools (privacy policy)
Cloudflare DNS-over-HTTPS — For DNS record resolution in the DNS Lookup tool
OpenStreetMap — For displaying location maps (privacy policy)
Google Analytics — For anonymized traffic analytics (Google's Privacy Policy)
Cloudflare — For hosting, CDN, and server-side functions (privacy policy)

Cookies

Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (_ga, _gid, _gat) to distinguish unique users and throttle request rates. These cookies are anonymized and do not contain personally identifiable information. We have configured these cookies with SameSite=Lax and Secure flags. Our SEO proxy and all tools do not set any cookies.

You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on or by declining the cookie consent banner on your first visit.

This website may display advertisements via Google AdSense. Google AdSense uses cookies to serve relevant ads based on your browsing history. You can manage ad personalization settings at Google Ad Settings. Read more about Google's advertising practices.

International Data Transfers

Google Analytics data may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where Google operates. Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF) and the UK Extension to the EU-US DPF. For more information, see Google's data transfer disclosures.

Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

Right to access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Right to rectification — Request correction of inaccurate data
Right to erasure — Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
Right to restrict processing — Request limitation of how we use your data
Right to data portability — Request transfer of your data to another service
Right to object — Object to processing of your data for analytics purposes

Since we do not store personal data on our servers, most of these rights are addressed by the fact that we simply do not possess your data. You can exercise your right to object to Google Analytics by declining the cookie consent banner or installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. For any questions, please contact us.

Your Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a resident of California, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

Right to know — Request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect
Right to delete — Request deletion of personal information we have collected
Right to opt out of sale — We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of
Right to non-discrimination — We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights

Children's Privacy (COPPA)

FreeWebCheck is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
